Men's Club –May 2013

Last month the Men’s club delivered almost 500 candles to every PBJC family. This is always quite an undertaking. Hopefully you received your Yom HaShoah candle delivery and you lit it on the evening of Sunday April 7th. Thanks to all the guys that helped to prepare and deliver all the candles. In no special order: Alan Rothberg, Tal Vinder, Glenn Fox, Don Kanoff, Tom Milkowski, David Bornstein, Mark Roffman, Ray Feldman, Joel Miklacki, Stan Greene, Steve Berman, Steve Cohen, Jonathan Lewis, Barry Weinreb, Jedd Mendelson, Sheldon Eisen, Scott Karp, Craig Nadel, Michael Fuchs, Barry Davis, Jeffrey Weiss, Jay Thailer, Michael Weinstein, Howard Chesler, Jack Wenarsky, Marc Bortnicker, Michael Fuchs, Barry Davis, Marv Kaufman, Paul Fenton, Michael Belman, Bill Markel, Jonathan Cohen, Nathan Fine, Phil Person, Gary Messenger, Herman Schkolnick, Gary Gordon, Seth Edelstein, Charlie Stein and Scott Spitzberg.

The Men’s Club Passover wine sale was another success this year and it’s all thanks to Mickey Gilbert. We also thank everyone that supported the Men’s Club and purchased some of our Kosher for Passover wines. We hope you had a nice Passover holiday and that you and your family enjoyed the wine!

The Men’s Club sponsored our third NCAA March Madness Bracket Pool. It was all done online where you could track all the stats and current standings. This was a fun way to enjoy all the games, support your Men’s Club and maybe even win some “Matzo ball$”. This year it all came down to the wire in final game. The results are:

•    1st Place – Steve Gothelf
•    2nd Place – Danny Gothelf
•    3rd Place – Gary Gordon

Based on the results above, there is an ongoing investigation as to any illegal activities, tampering or otherwise inappropriate actions that may have affected the final results and subsequent “Matzo ball” payout to the alleged winners. Stay tuned for any late breaking news on this latest allegation. Thanks to Gary Gordon our NCAA specialist for spearheading the event.

It’s springtime, so that means it’s time to play ball. We want to wish all the guys on the softball team good luck this season. This will be the 5th season for the team; they play in a league with other Synagogues in the area and the games are on Sundays. If you have an interest, contact Steve Horowitz.

Thank you for your continued support.
