THE FRIENDSHIP CLUB
OF THE PINE BROOK JEWISH CENTER
(Senior Adults 55 and over)
It has been an exciting year for The Friendship Club. In late January, we viewed the excellent documentary “The Rape of Europa” and in mid-February we held our annual mid-winter brunch in which Annette Winter of The Traveling Stage Company portrayed Martha Washington. Both programs were well attended and most enjoyable. As of this writing, we are looking forward to celebrating the 65th birthday of the State of Israel on Tuesday evening, April 23. In addition to a delicious dinner catered by Jerusalem West and sipping Israeli wine, the program will include remarks by both Rabbi Finkel and Cantor Toren. Five years ago, we celebrated Israel’s 60th birthday and it was a wonderful evening.
As a reminder, on Wednesday, July 10 (and back by popular demand), we have arranged a special daytime event at our synagogue –the “AARP Driver Safety Program.” This course is open to drivers 50 years of age and older and will be led by Marty Karasick, a certified AARP volunteer and a member of The Friendship Club. At this session, we will learn how to refresh our driving skills and how to save money on our auto insurance. A flyer will be mailed in June with all the details. If you are interested in attending this course, it is imperative that you respond immediately as the class size is limited.
Finally, if you know of anyone who wishes to join The Friendship Club, please contact me at your earliest convenience We always welcome new members!
Have a beautiful spring!
B’Shalom,
