Friendship Club - News & Announcements
The Friendship Club of the Pine Brook Jewish Center (Senior Adults 55 and over) Once again, another year has come and gone and it was a busy one for The Friendship Club. Last year, our events included our annual mid-winter brunch with Rabbi Finkel as our guest speaker; a trip to The Morris Museum to view a teapot exhibit followed by a luncheon at The Madison Hotel; a matinee performance of “I Hate Hamlet” at the Bickford Theatre; a comedy show with Rabbi Bob Alper sponsored by PBJC; a musical revue with Mary Ryzuk as Ethel Merman; our annual Shabbat dinner and a matinee performance of “Shlemiel the First” at the Skirball Center at New York University. In addition, as a community service project, we donated food items to the Morristown Soup Kitchen. All in all, it was a fantastic year!
Our annual Shabbat dinner on Friday evening, November 11 was, as always, a lovely event. In addition to enjoying a delicious dinner catered by Jerusalem West and sipping Israeli wine, several of our members participated in the evening service.
As of this writing, we are looking forward to attending a matinee performance of the Klezmer musical “Shlemiel the First” on Wednesday, December 14 at the Skirball Center for The Performing Arts at New York University. Prior to our departure, a light lunch will be served at the synagogue. This will be a wonderful day for our group.
Our annual mid-winter brunch is scheduled for Sunday, February 5 in Scheinman Hall so please remember to mark this date on your calendar. A flyer with complete details will be mailed to our members in January.
In closing, thank you for your support this past year. Your participation and enthusiasm have made The Friendship Club a vital part of the Pine Brook Jewish Center family and we anticipate another exciting year.
Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year!
B’Shalom,
Betty Crane, Coordinator
