A happy, healthy new year to all! I hope everyone had a wonderful Chanukah and a nice break from school/work/etc. As is always the case, December was a busy month. On December 6th Sisterhood held another great Marketplace shopping evening. Over twenty vendors were at PBJC selling clothing, jewelry, hand-made items, housewares and more. A huge thanks to Stacey Blumenthal and Jodi Benson for organizing this wonderful fundraiser and thanks to all the other ladies who helped make the night run smoothly. We also want to thank all the Sisterhood and synagogue members who came out in the rain to shop and support Sisterhood.
On December 21st Sisterhood and Men’s Club co-sponsored the annual PBJC Chanukah party for the younger (pre-Aleph) children. Jessica Edelstein and Lynn Honig, Sisterhood’s Z’Havah Co-chairs, worked with Rosanne Mendelowitz, Director of the Nursery School, to make this a special night for the kids. They were entertained by Pam Yudko of “Party with Pam” and enjoyed a fried donut treat. Then everyone went outside to sing the prayers with Rabbi Finkel and watch as the “candle” on the PBJC menorah lit up. Before heading home everyone was given gelt and a dreidle to enjoy. We hope everyone had a happy Chanukah!
Coming up we have many items on our Sisterhood agenda:
• Friday, January 6, at 12:30pm Sisterhood luncheon book club is meeting at Joyce Stern’s house. Please join us to discuss “Unbroken” by Laura Hillenbrand. Call Joyce Stern to confirm.
• Tuesday, January 31st at 7:30pm is the first meeting of Sisterhood’s new Evening Book Club. Please join us to discuss “Unbroken” by Laura Hillenbrand. Bring $10 which will cover the cost of drinks and snacks for the 2012 gatherings of this Book Club which will meet at PBJC at 7:30pm on the last Tuesday of each month. Any questions, please call Karen.
• January 8th or 15 th at 9:30am is the Sisterhood Training Seminar developed and run by Women’s League. All Sisterhood Board members should attend this event. Final date will come via email.
• January 29th at 4:00pm is the Havdalah Pajama Party, a beloved event run by Z’Havah
• Monday, January 30th 9:30am - 11:30 Knitting Group taught by Eve Fields is meeting at Gail Shube's house. Everyone welcome. For more information contact Gail by phone or email gtarka@aol.com
