Youth Group
United Synagogue Youth (USY) and Kadima are organizations for Jewish teens and pre-teens from across the area and across the country to meet each other, hang out together, and make lifelong friendships while learning about and experiencing Judaism.
USY (United Synagogue Youth) is an organization for Jewish teenagers in high school. The Pine Brook Jewish Center USY (PBJC USY) chapter belongs to the Hagalil region, which is made up of the greater New Jersey area. PBJC USY has an active community on the local (chapter) level. Some of our chapter events include; movie nights, bonfires, lounge nights, snow tubing, Chanukah parties, krav maga nights and so much more! On the regional level, we participate in many great events as well. These events include; regional dances, conventions and group activities (such as ice skating).

Kadima - 6th - 8th Grade
What can I say? I am thrilled with how Kadima is going so far for the 2011-2012 year! Our event “Good Lookin’ Gourd” was a great success. We decorated gourds in the Sukkah in celebration of Fall. We had a great turnout and the Kadima members had a blast! Many other events are currently in the works, including events with other chapters. Like last month’s Candlestick, I would like to continue to encourage parents to reach out and voice what they and their 6th,7th or 8th graders would like to see happen through Kadima. I am currently making a Facebook group. I am encouraging parents to check their e-mails closely for the link to the group. I have heard that the Kadima e-mails get easily swallowed up in people’s inboxes, so I am hoping that through Facebook AND e-mails my success in reaching the parents regarding various Kadima related news will increase. If you have any other suggestions please contact me at pbjckadima@gmail.com.
I also would like to thank everyone for welcoming me so warmly the past few months. I am very proud to be the PBJC Kadima advisor and I hope, with your help, the chapter will continue to grow and flourish. Best, Emily Golloub
El Al -4th and 5th grade
December was amazing in EL AL! We created delicious Chanukah confections and enjoyed gobbling them up! Afterwards, we delivered trays of extra goodies we made to our local heroes at the Montville First Aid Squad and the Pine Brook Fire Department! What a way to end 2011!
This month, we’ll head to NJ Rock Gym for, you guessed it, Rock Climbing! Look for details in your emails and join us on January 8th! Half the year may be done, but we’re still having lots of FUN!!!
