Youth Group United Synagogue Youth (USY) and Kadima are organizations for Jewish teens and pre-teens from across the area and across the country to meet each other, hang out together, and make lifelong friendships while learning about and experiencing Judaism. USY and Kadima are the youth groups associated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. It is never too late to join. Contact Ariel Lippa for more information or for an application. . This year's USY season is coming to a close. The seven of us who attened Spring Convention had a blast! PBJC USY came home with two awards: the Ahavat Tzion Award in recognition of our distribution of knowledge about Israel and a Tikkun Olam Award in recognition of the money that we have donated over the course of the year. Much of this dissemination of knowledge about Israel has taken place through Facebook, so make sure that you friend Pine Brook USY and take advantage of this opportunity. This past month, we had our Friday Night Service followed by a Kabbalistic Yoga Experience. Thank you to all who participated and a special thanks to Emily Gollub for her yoga instruction! Coming up, we have our end of the year bonfire, where we welcome all current 8th graders/upcoming freshman. It will be a fun night of icebreakers, music, a bonfire, and s'mores! We will also end the year with our elections for next year's board members. Hey Kadimanicks! I can’t believe how fast this year has gone! It was definitely a terrific year if I don’t say so myself! There were plenty of new and exciting events such as the New Year’s Party mixed in with some oldies but goodies like the American Idol Ice Cream Social.
The momentum continued through the month of April as the scene was set with a beautiful day for the Kadima Amazing Race Scavenger Hunt! The kids were broken up into three teams and had to conquer three very different tasks. It all started with a set of trivia questions and ended with a mad dash around the park to collect all of the clues. In the end three teams all gave a valiant effort! Although there were so many highlights the best part was watching all of the teams perform row row row your boat and do jumping jacks on their way to solving the clues. It is safe to say it put a smile on all of our faces!
As always, these great events can not be possible without the support from the Kadimanicks and their families. With that being said, I would like to thank Jane Spielberger, Jodi Korn, Sydney Friedman and Stephanie Friedman for lending a helping hand! You guys are the best!
